Job summary

HealthEquity is seeking a Cyber Engineer on the Network Defense team to protect firewalls, cloud connections, and traffic paths. You will design scripts, playbooks, and integrations across Azure and Palo Alto networks to detect and respond to threats efficiently.

The role emphasizes automation and AI-assisted management while supporting HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance. You will participate in an on-call rotation and collaborate with defense teams to investigate incidents, write runbooks, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network security engineering or related field.
• Experience configuring Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls, Panorama/Strata Cloud Manager, or GlobalProtect/Prisma Access.
• Production experience with Azure networking and security services (virtual networks, NSGs, Azure Firewall).
• Ability to explain technical risk to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage network security solutions across Azure and Palo Alto Networks.
• Build automation via scripts, IaC, and SOAR playbooks to reduce manual effort.
• Monitor telemetry, tune policies, and reduce gaps in the environment.
• Configure and maintain Azure network security controls and related services.
• Extend defense to cloud/remote environments with GlobalProtect/Prisma Access.
• Collaborate with Cyber Defense Operations to investigate incidents.
• Write runbooks, documentation, and SOPs for network defense.
• Support HIPAA, SOC 2, and other compliance evidence requests.
• Explore AI-driven automation to scale network defense.
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
