Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions seeks a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology strategy, architecture, and engineering for our client in the energy/DER space. This remote-based role involves travel to Arizona as needed and directing a distributed engineering organization.

You will define the technical roadmap for microgrid solutions, oversee EMS platforms, and drive innovation while ensuring scalable, secure systems across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in technology leadership roles.
• Strong background in energy systems, microgrids, or distributed energy resources.
• Experience building and scaling software platforms and hardware-integrated systems.
• Experience leading remote or distributed teams.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, IoT architectures, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the company’s technology vision and roadmap aligned with business goals.
• Lead the design and development of microgrid control platforms and energy management systems.
• Architect scalable, secure, and resilient systems across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers.
• Oversee integration of solar PV, battery storage, EV infrastructure, and DER assets.
• Build and lead a high-performing, distributed engineering team.
• Establish agile development processes and technical standards.
• Mentor and develop technical leaders within the organization.
• Ensure successful product delivery from concept through deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align timelines and technical requirements.
• Manage technology budgets and vendor partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with energy regulations and cybersecurity best practices.
• Maintain system reliability for mission-critical deployments.
