Job summary

Heartland Family Service is seeking a Community Based Crisis Responder for Iowa CCBHC. This on-call, daytime role offers remote work with flexible coverage including evenings and weekends.

The position emphasizes crisis intervention, risk assessment, and collaboration with community resources to support individuals with mental health and substance use needs. A strong commitment to trauma-informed care is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, education, or equivalent.
• Behavioral health licensure in Iowa or related qualifications accepted.
• Alternative: law enforcement or EMT experience with applicable credentials.
• Peer support certification within six months of hire.
• RN/LPN with relevant experience or two years in behavioral health.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment for referral sources.
• Complete crisis-focused assessments within 24 hours of calls.
• Develop intervention plans with client and referral source participation.
• Maintain relationships with community resources and provide referrals.
• Be on-call for weekday, evening, overnight, or weekend coverage as availability allows.
• Maintain and document clinical records per agency standards.
