Crisis Connections is hiring a 988 Crisis Specialist to provide compassionate, confidential crisis support remotely. You will assess risk, coordinate with clinicians, and create safety plans for callers in distress.

The role offers part‑time or full‑time schedules, a $26.79/hour base pay plus $2.00 shift premium for graveyard hours, and union representation (OPEIU). Ideal candidates are empathetic, capable of multitasking across platforms, and committed to trauma‑informed care in a fully remote

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus four years of full‑time behavioral health experience or related combos.
• Bachelor’s degree + 1 year Behavioral Health experience, or Associate +2 years.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask across multiple software platforms.
• Empathy, calm under pressure and resilience in crisis settings.
• AAC credential by end of probation; cost reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Provide empathetic, nonjudgmental crisis intervention via phone.
• Conduct suicide risk and behavioral health assessments; support de-escalation.
• Collaborate with on‑shift clinicians for safety when higher intervention is needed.
• Develop safety and action plans with individuals in crisis.
• Connect callers to community resources and crisis partners.
• Document interactions in the electronic health record.
• Follow 988 Lifeline protocols and performance standards.
• Contribute to team goals for response times, availability, and quality care.

Education

High school diploma or GED + 4 years behavioral health experience

Bachelor’s degree + 1 year behavioral health experience

Associate degree + 2 years behavioral health experience
