Job summary

Gaggle is building a Crisis Counselor team to support K-12 students remotely. As an Independent Contractor, you will provide empathetic, text-based crisis counseling to students, with flexible scheduling to cover a 24/7 crisis line.

Prior crisis intervention experience is preferred and confidentiality and safety protocols are essential. You will need reliable internet, a suitable device, and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in crisis intervention or crisis counseling strongly preferred.
• Background in de-escalation techniques, mental health support, or social work.
• Experience in counseling, coaching, or peer support roles with empathetic listening and rapport-building through text-based chat.
• Proficient with computer and web-based applications.
• Respectful of differing opinions and perspectives.
• Comfortable adapting to change and evolving processes.
• Able to work independently; prior experience as an independent contractor preferred.
• Reliable high-speed internet access required (satellite internet not accepted).
• Access to a computer, Chromebook, or laptop required (tablets and phones not accepted).
• Experience with Slack or similar business chat platforms a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis counseling and support to students via text chat.
• Work as an Independent Contractor on a flexible schedule.
• Support a 24/7 crisis line and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols.
• Participate in required background checks and regulatory screenings.
