Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a seasoned Couchbase DBA to design, manage, and optimize distributed Couchbase database clusters in a remote setting. Candidates should have 10+ years of experience and deep expertise in cluster management, upgrades, security, monitoring, and automation.

You will handle data modeling, HA, scalability, SQL++ (N1QL) tuning, XDCR, backups, DR, and cross-team collaboration across application and cloud teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Couchbase database administration and performance tuning.
• Deep expertise in cluster configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with upgrades, security, monitoring, and automation of Couchbase deployments.
• Strong data modeling skills and ability to design scalable architectures with high availability and XDCR.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support Couchbase clusters across production and non-production environments with high availability and performance.
• Design and implement scalable Couchbase architectures, including cluster config, replication, and capacity planning.
• Tune SQL++ (N1QL) queries, indexing, and performance across workloads.
• Manage backups, DR, failover, and cross data center replication (XDCR).
• Plan upgrades, patching, cluster rebalance, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Monitor health, respond to incidents, perform RCA, and implement preventive measures.
• Implement security controls including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• Collaborate with app, infra, and cloud teams on migrations, automation, and optimization initiatives.
