Job summary
Cognizant is seeking a seasoned Couchbase DBA to manage and optimize distributed database clusters in a remote U.S.-facing role. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience and deep expertise in SQL++ (N1QL), HA/DR, XDCR, and performance tuning.
Responsibilities include upgrades, security, monitoring, backup/recovery, and close collaboration with cloud teams to drive architecture, data modeling and scalability. This role offers remote work with Cognizant’s incentive program where applicable.
Qualifications
- Senior Couchbase DBA with extensive cluster management experience.
- Expertise in SQL++ (N1QL) and performance tuning.
- Experience with upgrades, security, monitoring and automation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support Couchbase clusters across environments with high availability.
- Design scalable Couchbase architectures, data modeling, replication, capacity planning.
- Tune performance, optimize SQL++ queries, indexing and troubleshoot issues.
- Handle backup, DR, failover and Cross Data Center Replication (XDCR).
- Plan upgrades, patching, cluster rebalance and maintenance with minimal disruption.
- Monitor health, resolve incidents, perform RCA and implement preventive measures.
- Implement RBAC, encryption, auditing and compliance in database security.
- Collaborate with app, infra and cloud teams on migrations, automation and performance.
