Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Cost Engineer to support capital projects across our North American facilities. This role offers the opportunity to apply and expand cost‑engineering expertise with ownership aligned to experience while partnering with project teams to establish budgets and forecasts.

This remote position is open to candidates located in the US and requires up to 25% travel to headquarters and facilities in USA/Canada based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Two+ years in project controls, cost engineering, or related role on complex projects.
• Experience budgeting, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecasting, and change control across multiple work packages.

Responsibilities

• Establish project cost structures, control budgets, and cost-control procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate project cost position across budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, forecasts.
• Coordinate monthly cost-cycle activities: data validation, accruals, forecast reviews, period close, reconciliation.
• Analyze cost performance, trends, risks, and variances; communicate forecast movement via reports and dashboards.
• Integrate cost and schedule information to evaluate progress, earned value, cash flow, and forecast ranges.
• Monitor contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and payment status; collaborate with procurement and contract admin to identify risks.
• Collaborate with scheduling, estimating, risk, and change-management to translate risks into cost exposure and forecast ranges.
• Work with internal partners, contractors, and vendors to maintain auditable cost information and change history.
• Transform and integrate data from multiple systems into analysis-ready datasets and provide insights.
• Coach team members on cost-control expectations and forecast ownership.
