Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Cost Engineer to support capital projects across our North American facilities. This role focuses on establishing budgets, forecasting, and cost-control to improve financial outcomes, with ownership based on experience.

This is a remote position open to candidates located in the United States and requires up to 25% travel to headquarters and facilities in USA/Canada as needed. The Project Services team supports capital project execution with project controls leads,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or related role.
• Proficient in budgeting, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with Excel and integrating cost data from multiple systems.
• Ability to interpret complex data and communicate results clearly.
• Proven ability to collaborate across project disciplines and challenge unsupportable data.

Responsibilities

• Establish project cost structures, control budgets, and cost-control procedures aligned with WBS and contracting strategy.
• Maintain complete project cost position across budgets, commitments, costs, accruals, forecast-to-complete, and EAC.
• Coordinate monthly cost-cycle activities: data validation, accrual development, forecast reviews, period close, reconciliation.
• Analyze cost performance, trends, risks, and variances; communicate forecast movements through reports and dashboards.
• Integrate cost and schedule information to evaluate progress, earned value, cash flow, and forecast impacts.
• Monitor commitments, contracts, purchases, invoices; collaborate with procurement to identify gaps and risks.
• Collaborate with scheduling, estimating, risk, and change-management to document risks and opportunities.
