Job summary

Border States is seeking a Cost Analyst to support cost management initiatives across open market business. This role focuses on cost competitiveness, SPA rationalization, and tiered pricing strategies to identify cost savings and profit improvement.

The ideal candidate will analyze cost structures, negotiate with vendors, and collaborate with branch personnel to implement market-driven pricing decisions. A bachelor’s in a related field and SAP proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• No minimum years of prior experience required; relevant experience in procurement, pricing, costing, or supply chain is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SAP materials management and previous forecasting experience is preferred.
• APICS certification or proven knowledge of MRP and supply-chain knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews cost competitiveness by product category/region and establishes cost confidence with branch personnel.
• Engages branch/regional personnel and key stakeholders during category evaluations.
• Evaluates market conditions, vendor alignment, and strategies.
• Analyzes current cost structures (SPAs, regional vs branch, vendor programs).
• Gathers local market feedback for competitive market analyses.
• Uses analytics to gather pricing intelligence and market trends.
• Presents findings and implements agreed-upon results with stakeholders.
• Negotiates pricing with vendors based on evaluation results.
• Identifies cost-management opportunities and demonstrates due diligence in cost control.
• Analyzes cost differences across locations, regions, and customer types.
• Identifies opportunities to negotiate better SPA costs and improve stock pricing.
