Job summary

Border States is seeking a Cost Analyst to support cost management strategies across open market products. The role involves cost analysis, SPA rationalization, and opportunity identification to improve cost and profitability.

Remote work is available, with a focus on market competitiveness and vendor negotiations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in a related field; SAP/MM forecasting knowledge is preferred, with APICS or MRP knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
• No minimum years of prior experience required; relevant experience in procurement, sales, pricing, costing, supply chain, or distribution is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SAP materials management system and forecasting experience preferred.
• APICS certification or proven knowledge of MRP and supply-chain knowledge preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows and Microsoft Office; SAP software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review product categories/vendors by branch/region to assess cost competitiveness.
• Engage branch, regional personnel and key stakeholders during category evaluations.
• Evaluate current market conditions, vendor/category alignment and strategies.
• Understand cost structures (SPAs, regional vs branch, backside vendor programs).
• Collaborate with field personnel to gather market feedback for competitive analyses.
• Use data analytics to gather pricing market intelligence.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and implement agreed results.
• Negotiate pricing with vendors when needed.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.
