Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification/on‑the‑job training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years’ educational assessment experience.
• Demonstrates strong end‑to‑end copyediting proficiency across spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and usage.
• Interprets and applies major style references (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage).
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat and MS Office 365 apps (Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Excel).
• Understands basics of HTML/XML for web publishing.

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity across assessment components and identifies errors throughout the workday.
• Follows client style guidelines and flags deviations when needed; may create/modify client guidelines.
• Knows copyeditor scope and flags concerns when scope is exceeded.
• Proactively seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise and knowledge of style guides.
