Job summary

Harpak-ULMA Packaging, LLC is seeking a Controls Engineer for Automation & Technical Support. This fully remote Midwest-based role involves remote troubleshooting, field service coordination, and R&D collaboration on packaging equipment.

You will program and diagnose Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, VFDs, and networking, while supporting Field Service Technicians and customers across diverse sites. Travel up to 60% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Mechanical/Software Engineering or related field
• Strong Rockwell PLC programming and troubleshooting
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, and PanelView Plus
• Experience using Studio 5000 or similar controls software
• Strong ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• 2D AutoCAD knowledge
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70E
• Remote work capability
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport

Responsibilities

• Program, troubleshoot, and modify Rockwell PLC, HMI, servo, and VFD systems
• Remotely support Field Service Technicians with complex controls, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting
• Diagnose automation issues on high-speed packaging equipment
• Travel to customer facilities to provide hands-on technical support when needed
• Maintain and modify existing machine-control programs
• Configure and troubleshoot Rockwell, Pro-face, and Lenze equipment
• Update electrical schematics using 2D AutoCAD
• Maintain clear controls documentation for future modifications
• Research and implement new controls hardware and software
• Contribute to R&D and engineering projects between service assignments
• Manage multiple technical projects and priorities
