Business Sherpa Group seeks a full-time Controller for its remote accounting practice. You will guide client engagements, oversee close processes, and mentor a small team while ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple portfolios.

The ideal candidate is a CPA or CPA candidate with 5+ years of SME accounting experience, strong GAAP/IFRS knowledge, and proficiency in cloud-based accounting packages. remote Canada/US coverage is available.

Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate with 5+ years of accounting experience in SMEs.
• Experience in a controller-level role managing a portfolio of clients.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS; proficient with cloud-based accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted financial advisor to a portfolio of clients, building relationships and delivering financial leadership.
• Review financial statements, reporting packages, and analyses for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Oversee month-end/year-end close, cash flow management, and reporting across engagements.
• Lead client engagements, coordinating accountants and specialists for high-quality service.
• Mentor and develop junior team members through coaching and review of work.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
