Job summary

Vessel Advisors is seeking a Consulting Controller to lead multi-client onsite assessments and deliver clear financial roadmaps. The role blends strategic finance, accounting systems, and data-driven insights in a fully remote setting with periodic travel.

You will drive in-person discovery sessions, partner with former Big 4 and CFO practice leaders, and own end-to-end client engagements across multiple engagements.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in financial audit, assurance, or risk advisory at a public accounting firm (CPA bonus).
• 8+ years in progressive accounting roles with multi-client engagements or corporate finance.
• Ability to lead in-person discovery meetings with executive stakeholders.
• Proficiency in cloud accounting platforms and modern finance tech stacks.
• Organized and able to manage travel-heavy schedules with a client-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite discovery sessions with growth-stage CEOs to assess financial health and controls.
• Deliver strategic recommendations and partner with CFOs to present roadmaps.
• Lead controllers across a portfolio, manage month-end close, budgeting, and system optimizations.
• Improve complex financial setups, identify risk, and establish internal controls for audit readiness.
• Direct and review work of staff and contractors to meet budget and scope.
