Job summary

Vessel Advisors is seeking a Consulting Controller for a 100% remote role. You will lead onsite discovery sessions with growth‑stage CEOs, manage multi‑client engagements, and partner with Vessel CFOs to design financial roadmaps that improve client outcomes.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years in public accounting, 8+ years in progressive accounting roles, CPA is a bonus, and strong tech chops with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct. Travel up to 2 times per month is required.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of foundational experience in financial audit, assurance, or risk advisory at a public accounting firm.
8+ years in progressive accounting roles, including multi-client engagements or corporate operations.
Exceptional ability to lead in-person discovery meetings and engage executive stakeholders.
High proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (QB Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and modern finance tech stacks.
Organized, agile with travel schedules and adept at Slack/email communication.

Responsibilities

Lead Onsite Financial Assessments: 2–3 day discovery sessions with growth-stage CEOs to evaluate financial health and controls.
Deliver Strategic Recommendations: write assessment reports and present roadmaps to client leadership.
Fractional Controller Leadership: manage month-end close, budgeting/forecasting, and system optimizations across multiple clients.
Drive Clean-Up & Integration: identify risk, establish controls, and ensure audit-ready books.
Lead Teams & Contractors: supervise accounting staff and contractors to meet budgets and scope.
