Job summary

Vessel Advisors seeks a Controller to manage accounting, job cost, and WIP for multiple contractor clients on a fully remote basis in the United States. You will drive revenue recognition under ASC 606, perform monthly close, and present results to owner leadership with clear, practical insights.

You will lead estimate reviews with project managers, ensure accurate cash flow and compliance, and leverage AI tools to automate recurring accounting deliverables across engagements.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience owning job cost, WIP, and %‑of‑completion for GC or specialty trade contractors.
• GAAP and ASC 606 knowledge for construction contracts and revenue recognition.
• Ability to challenge project managers on estimates and explain job results to owners clearly.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent clients with tight deadlines.
• AI-first mindset with experience using AI tools to automate reconciliations and reporting.
• Hands-on with construction ERP or job cost platforms; advanced Excel skills.
• Highly organized, proactive, and capable of leading fractional engagements.
• Strong written and verbal communication for remote client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Own month‑end close for each client, including job cost review, accruals, and WIP.
• Lead monthly estimate‑to‑complete meetings with PMs and owners; document changes.
• Review AIA pay applications, schedules of values, change orders, retainage; verify subcontractor payments.
• Present monthly results to owners and leadership with clear explanations.
