Job summary

Hastings Insurance seeks an experienced Claim Litigation Specialist to manage a complex caseload of coverage and high-exposure claims across jurisdictions. You’ll investigate, evaluate, and resolve matters through negotiations, mediations, and litigation support, aligning with company objectives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible P&C claims experience.
• Ten+ years of claims experience including litigation preferred.
• Knowledge of complex coverage issues and high-exposure claims.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to obtain state adjuster licenses and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex coverage and high-exposure claims from investigation through resolution.
• Investigate and evaluate claim exposures, analyze policy coverage, and develop handling and settlement strategies.
• Collaborate with defense counsel, insureds, claimants, attorneys, and stakeholders to support litigation management.
• Evaluate and negotiate settlements within established authority levels.
• Establish, evaluate, and maintain claim reserves based on exposure and costs.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, trials, and other proceedings as needed.
• Identify opportunities for subrogation, salvage, and loss mitigation while ensuring cost-effective use of outside vendors.
• Maintain thorough claim documentation per procedures and regulatory requirements.
