Job summary

Hastings Insurance seeks an experienced Claim Litigation Specialist to join our Legal team. This role will investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex coverage and high-exposure claims across multiple jurisdictions, including litigated and non-litigated matters.

You will manage a caseload, work with attorneys, insureds, claimants, and stakeholders to develop effective strategies, establish reserves, and participate in legal proceedings to achieve fair, timely, and cost-effective resolutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum of five years of property and casualty claims experience.
• Ten or more years of claims experience including commercial claims and litigation handling preferred.
• Knowledge of complex coverage issues and settlement negotiations.
• Ability to obtain state adjuster licenses and continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex coverage and high-exposure claims through investigation to resolution.
• Investigate claim exposures, evaluate coverage, and develop settlement strategies.
• Collaborate with defense counsel, insureds, claimants, and attorneys to support litigation management.
• Establish and maintain claim reserves based on exposure and costs.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
• Maintain thorough claim documentation per procedures and regulations.
• Identify indicators of fraud and coordinate referrals to the Special Investigations Unit.
• Mentor fellow claims professionals on coverage matters and litigation strategies.
• Communicate claim developments to internal departments.
