UnitedHealth Group's Optum division is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to join our credit analysis team. You will review loan requests, analyze financial statements, assess credit risk, and present recommendations to portfolio managers and underwriters.

This role emphasizes accuracy, risk control, and collaboration across Credit and Administration teams. The position offers flexible remote work from anywhere in the U.S., with in-office requirements only for specific areas if applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience in credit analysis and underwriting.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk.
• Strong communication skills for presenting findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze new commercial loan requests and perform periodic reviews on existing commercial loans.
• Conduct analysis of financial statements and assess overall credit risk of new and existing loans.
• Take lead role in presenting analysis, findings, and recommendations to Portfolio Managers, Underwriters, and other members of the Credit team.
• Assess and recommend risk ratings for analyzed loans.
• Be knowledgeable of policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations and systems applicable to the credit team functions.
• Complete quarterly and annual covenant compliance testing for existing loans in the portfolio.
• Analyze and document loan modification requests.
