Job summary

Canto is seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to build and scale a modern in-house legal function focused on commercial contracting for its SaaS Platform. You will own end-to-end contracting operations, implement CLM and AI-enabled workflows, and partner with Sales, Finance, and executives to drive growth with prudence and speed.

This role supports US-based teams with EST/CST time zones, offering remote work with strategic collaboration across US and Europe.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of SaaS or tech company legal experience
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, DPAs, NDAs)
• Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA
• Ability to operate independently and build processes from scratch
• Experience partnering with Sales/go-to-market in a fast-paced environment
• Interest in legal tech and AI-driven workflows
• Hands-on with CLM systems and AI-enabled review/drafting tools

Responsibilities

• Own negotiation and execution of commercial SaaS agreements and related documents
• Scale contracting operations with AI-enabled processes and CLM templates
• Lead risk management across vendor contracts, privacy, and governance
• Serve as primary legal advisor for commercial and operational matters
• Manage relationships with outside counsel across US and Europe
