Job summary

Powers Health is seeking a Supervisor Coding to lead Outpatient Diagnostics and Same Day Surgery coding, auditing, and data reporting. This role emphasizes accurate coding, compliance, and collaboration with clinical teams.

The position is primarily remote with periodic travel to Powers Health facilities for meetings and training. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or Health Information Technology; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Active AHIMA RHIT or RHIA credential.
• 3–5 years outpatient hospital coding experience, including Outpatient Diagnostics and Same Day Surgery.
• 2 years leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching and team-building abilities.
• Experience leading remote teams in a large health system preferred.
• Auditing, productivity management, quality improvement and performance management skills.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build cross-department relationships and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in outpatient and same day surgery coding: ICD-10CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, OPPS and NCCI edits.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, revenue cycle and compliance.
• Advanced MS Office proficiency: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with Epic EHR and related coding applications.
• Experience using reporting tools and dashboards to monitor performance and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of Outpatient Diagnostics and Same Day Surgery coding.
• Provide leadership through training, coaching, and performance reviews.
• Monitor accounts receivable issues and promote compliant coding practices.
• Collaborate with clinical and operational departments to resolve coding, documentation and charge-related issues.
• Travel to Powers Health facilities for meetings and training as required.
• Support data reporting and process improvements.
