Job summary

Parkland Health seeks a Coding Specialist II to code and verify charge data across ED, SDS, OPC, OBS and inpatient OB/newborn encounters. You will ensure accuracy in ICD-10, PCS, CPT/HCPCS, HCC and E/M codes while guiding junior coders for quality and compliance.

The role requires CCS/CCS-P or CPC family credentials or AHIMA/AAPC certifications, with a 100% remote work model and strict adherence to Parkland policies.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4/HCPCS, HCC and HEDIS CAT II, E/M coding and abstracting.
• Must have strong knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology and possess strong application skills.
• Must be CCS or CCS-P or CPC family certifications or AHIMA/AAPC credentials.

Responsibilities

• Code, abstract and conduct charge quality review on ED, SDS, OPC, OBS and OB/newborn encounters.
• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes per CMS requirements for professional and hospital billing.
• Achieve 95% accuracy on quality reviews and productivity standards.
• Verify, edit and enter charges; report discrepancies timely.
• Maintain patient data with accurate classification codes and ensure data integrity.
