Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Coding Quality Educator to advance from production coding into a consultative role focused on provider auditing, education, and complex coding research. This fully remote, full-time position emphasizes Neurology/Neurosurgery coding support and education across the academic health system.

You will audit, educate, and partner with physicians and clinical leaders to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy, while delivering practical guidance and ongoing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• 5 years of coding experience in a tertiary setting preferred; strong auditing background.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned provider coding audits accurately and on schedule.
• Meet with physicians/providers to review audit findings and deliver education.
• Serve as the primary coding and documentation resource for assigned specialties.
• Support Neurosurgery and other surgical services with focused auditing and coding consultation.
• Research complex coding questions using authoritative guidance.
• Participate in provider and clinical leadership meetings as a subject-matter expert.
• Develop education materials such as presentations, tips, and job aids.
• Identify coding/documentation trends and create proactive education.
