Job summary

Sound Physicians is seeking a Coding Compliance Educator to deliver comprehensive coding, documentation, and compliance education across assigned service lines. You will translate audit findings and regulatory guidance into practical training for providers and clinical leadership.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Compliance Audit and leadership to maintain defensible coding practices, while staying current with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CMS guidance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Active coding credential such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, COC, RHIT, RHIA, or comparable credential.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional coding compliance auditing or provider education experience.
• Direct experience educating physicians, advanced practice providers, or clinical leadership strongly preferred.
• Experience researching and applying CMS and other authoritative coding and documentation guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, education, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver coding, documentation, and compliance education to providers and clinical leadership across assigned service lines.
• Translate audit findings, coding trends, regulatory changes, and identified risk areas into clear, practical education and guidance.
• Respond to provider and clinical leadership questions regarding coding, documentation, billing, and compliance requirements in a timely, professional, and non-punitive manner.
• Research, interpret, and apply authoritative coding and regulatory guidance, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, CMS requirements, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
• Create and maintain educational materials, presentations, job aids, tip sheets, and other resources to support accurate and compliant coding and documentation practices.
