Qualifications

• Outpatient coding experience and familiarity with ER charging a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient medical records and assigns ICD-10-CM or CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Applies sequencing guidelines to coded data according to rules.
• Verifies documentation supports codes and ER charges; follows up on unbilled accounts.
• Keeps current with coding changes and participates in department goals.
• Communicates questions to Coding Manager or Revenue Integrity for resolution.
• Collaborates with medical staff to resolve coding issues.
