Job summary

Smartronix is seeking a Cloud Security Operations Analyst to join our Security Operations team in a remote capacity supporting our Herndon, VA-based operations. You will help evaluate cybersecurity postures, develop security monitoring solutions, detect and mitigate threats, and leverage advanced tools to ensure timely delivery of managed security services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years of cybersecurity or cloud experience, preferably in an SOC environment.
• Proficiency with Unix, Linux, or Windows operating systems and command line interfaces.
• Experience with endpoint security tools and security incident response, analysis, and handling.
• Strong understanding of enterprise applications, infrastructure, and security technologies.
• Ability to analyze emerging cyber threats and apply relevant countermeasures.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with cross-team collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate efforts within small teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and service-oriented mindset.
• Preferred: cloud or virtualization technologies experience.
• Preferred: scripting languages experience.
• Preferred: CISSP, CEH, CASP or equivalent certifications.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust and DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve system and network security monitoring capabilities and procedures.
• Monitor, triage, and notify clients of potential security incidents; tune sensors and queries to minimize false positives.
• Implement endpoint security policies and rules aligned with defensive objectives.
• Support operational threat analysis through log correlation and endpoint security tools.
• Participate in contingency planning and incident response activities.
• Generate monthly and quarterly reports based on monitoring and alerting data.
• Recommend security improvements and maintain production and non-production environments to safeguard customer data.
• Create knowledge base documentation to enhance operational procedures and organizational effectiveness.
