Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a remote-capable Coding Education Lead to advance professional coding practices for physicians and APPs. The role emphasizes education, documentation accuracy, and compliance while coordinating with Epic and cross-functional teams.

You will drive onboarding, perform documentation reviews, and resolve complex coding issues to ensure accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 4 years of expert-level professional coding experience.
• Completion of advanced revenue cycle management training.
• Certifications from AHIMA or AAPC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations covering CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and payer requirements.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, Locum Tenens, residents, and students.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback and escalate non-coding issues as needed.
• Serve as primary coding contact, coordinating with teams on complex issues like NCCI edits.
• Monitor Epic queues to ensure timely charge submissions and reduce denials.
• Collaborate across CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment, and Population Health to improve documentation and workflows.
