Advocate Health seeks a Coding Education Lead to drive proactive education on CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS, while aligning with payer requirements and risk adjustment. You will onboard physicians and APPs, review clinician records, and partner with teams to ensure accurate documentation and compliant reimbursement.

You will optimize Epic tools and templates, monitor work queues, and deliver targeted training across departments to reduce denials and improve coding quality.

Qualifications

• Advanced Coding Expertise: In-depth knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to support precise code assignment.
• Epic and reporting solutions experience to analyze data and optimize workflows.
• Critical thinking and analytics with attention to detail.
• Strong communication with physicians and teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations covering CPT/E/M, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, risk adjustment, payer requirements, and rejection resolutions.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, Locum Tenens, residents, and students, ensuring documentation accuracy from the start.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback by reviewing clinician records and conducting spot checks.
• Serve as primary contact for coding inquiries and coordinate with internal teams to resolve complex issues.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely charge submissions and reduce claim denials.
• Collaborate with CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment, and Population Health to enhance documentation and system optimization.
• Participate in specialty meetings, identify trends, and deliver targeted education.
• Refine Epic documentation tools, templates, and SmartSets for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and AHIMA standards; stay current on policies.
• Promote ethical coding and continuous improvement.
