Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a specialized clinician services coder to lead proactive coding education and onboarding across physicians and APPs. You will review clinician records, provide feedback, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve complex coding issues.

You will monitor Epic queues, refine templates and SmartSets, and ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and AHIMA standards, while supporting clinicians with timely updates and education for accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications

• In-depth ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding knowledge for compliant coding.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy and physiology understanding.
• Proficient with Epic and reporting tools to analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive coding education via newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, incl. Locum Tenens.
• Provide individualized documentation feedback and escalate issues as needed.
• Serve as primary coding inquiries contact, resolving complex issues with teams.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely, accurate charge submissions.
• Collaborate across CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment and Population Health.
• Participate in meetings, identify trends, and deliver targeted education.
• Refine Epic docs tools like templates, diagnoses, SmartPhrases for efficiency.
• Ensure Medicare/Medicaid/AHIMA coding standards compliance and updates.
• Promote ethical coding and continuous improvement for reimbursement.
