UNOPS invites applications for an In Country Facilitator (Home based Retainer) in Botswana. The role focuses on coordinating government and partner efforts to implement the NDC and related climate actions.

The incumbent will work remotely from home, aligning sectoral priorities and mobilising resources through the NDC Partnership framework. The retainer contract spans up to 220 working days per year with potential extension subject to funds and performance.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change policy, environmental management, or sustainable development.
• Proven experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives and facilitating policy development processes.
• Project and programme management experience, including planning, monitoring, reporting, and coordination of stakeholders and partners.
• English – Fluent; Setswana – Desired.

Responsabilités

• Governance, coordination & stakeholder engagement: support secretariat functions of national committees, align NDC-related processes, and engage sectoral focal points.
• Resource mobilisation & partnership alignment: map partner support, convene donor coordination meetings, develop bankable project concepts.
• Policy alignment & enabling environment: support finalisation and operationalisation of NDC Implementation & Investment Plan, and coordinate sector TWGs.
• Monitoring, reporting & transparency: help develop online tracking of NDC implementation, collect data, and prepare CEU reports.
• Capacity building & knowledge management: design and deliver training on NDC, MRV/ETF systems, climate finance readiness, and SOPs.
