Job summary

UNOPS is hiring a Climate Finance Specialist on a home-based retainer for Mbabane, Eswatini. The role focuses on mobilising climate finance, developing bankable investments, and strengthening national capacity for NDC 3.0 implementation.

Engagement with government partners and private sector will be essential. The incumbent will coordinate with ministries, donors and international partners to deliver finance-ready pipelines and policy support within a 220-day assignment, with possible extension

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional work experience in climate policy development and management of programmes in climate change-related areas.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in climate finance space, including readiness, grant proposals, and capacity building.
• Experience in resource mobilization and collaboration with government agencies, donors and development partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead screening, appraisal and prioritisation of climate-resilient proposals to ensure bankability and alignment with NDC 3.0.
• Prepare concept notes, project proposals, investment cases and financing packages for multilateral funds and investors.
• Coordinate bankable project documentation including budgets, financing plans and implementation arrangements.
• Strengthen capacity building programs and knowledge exchange with national and sub-national partners.
