Erie Insurance Group is hiring a remote Claims Adjuster for the Casualty Claims Division. The position is home-based (near the Richmond Branch Office) with a primary schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, and occasional evening/Saturday shifts as needed.

The role requires handling liability and property claims under supervision, with licensing within 45 days and remote-work requirements including 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of related claims handling or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
• Must obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within 45 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and adjudicates claims within designated authority, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Establishes contact with all parties involved in the claim.
• Evaluates and negotiates claims and initiates payment or denial per authority.
• Responds to inquiries from policyholders, agents, claimants and others.
• Learns state liability laws, motor vehicle codes, and no-fault/FPB laws.
• Responds to intercompany arbitration applications with supervisor guidance.
• Conducts training to stay current on policy changes.
• Provides support for property claims during heavy volume.
