Job summary

BayWa r.e. Americas is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join the Engineering team. The role focuses on coordinating internal and third-party engineers during early-stage diligence, studies, and permitting for PV, BESS, and Hybrid projects around 100 MW and greater.

You will use CAD/Civil3D/PVdesign/PVSyst, engage with AHJs, and support cross-functional teams through design, permitting, and construction phases. PE licensing is highly preferred and travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in utility scale project development or EPC service.
• Experience with AHJs and coordinating engineering documents to meet regional requirements.
• Knowledge of solar development permitting processes and guidance for permit approval.
• Experience in grading analysis and cut-and-fill analysis.
• Experience in hydrology/drainage and stormwater analysis.
• Experience in permitting utility scale PV and BESS projects is a plus.
• Experience in preliminary site feasibility studies for Solar, BESS and Wind projects based on site surveys and desktop data.
• Proficiency with CAD software and GIS tools; MS Excel, MS Project, MS Office Suite.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage internal engineering and third-party consultants during site diligence, studies, and permitting for 100 MW+ PV/BESS/Hybrid projects.
• Use CAD or drafting software to create and manage PV, BESS, and Hybrid layouts meeting standards and AHJ requirements.
• Develop and review scopes of work; oversee studies; manage RFPs; evaluate pricing; issue task orders; approve invoices.
• Serve as primary engineering interface to development and project management teams for land control, environmental, permitting, and interconnection processes.
• Collaborate with GIS on constraint and buildable area creation and ensure designs are represented in the Company GIS tool.
• Provide technical engineering support throughout design and construction; coordinate cross-functional team members and external consultants.
• Support Estimation with engineering documentation and quantities; provide high-level civil-design analyses of EPC deliverables.
• Conduct site visits (10–15% travel) for risk identification, field inspections, and engineering support.
