Job summary

Global Impact Group LLC is seeking experienced Chuj over-the-phone interpreters (OPI) to support USCIS on a remote, federal contract. Roles include real-time Chuj-English interpretation for interviews, hearings, and asylum cases, with strict confidentiality and impartiality.

Qualified candidates are native or near-native in Chuj and English, have at least 2 years of interpreting experience in immigration or related fields, and are U.S.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Chuj and English.
• 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, NGO, government preferred).
• Deep knowledge of Mayan/indigenous Guatemalan culture.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Chuj-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum cases.
• Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural awareness in immigration and legal contexts.
• Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
• Support both scheduled and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
• Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
