Job summary

Atomic HR seeks a highly experienced CPA to sign off AI-prepared tax returns and shape the QA framework for a growing, tech-enabled accounting firm. You will work directly with the founder and engineers to define rules, test fixes, and ensure accuracy across multi-state and complex entity returns.

You will document edge-case rules, guide junior reviewers, and help the product team refine the engine. This is a remote, national role with founding equity and autonomy to set the review standard.

Qualifications

• Active US CPA license with PTIN and clean disciplinary record.
• 5+ years preparing and reviewing complex returns (1040, K-1s, S corp, partnerships, multi-state).
• Final sign-off experience and ability to justify decisions.
• Professional tax software plus hands-on automation/OCR/AI tool use on client work.

Responsibilities

• Review AI-prepared 1040, 1065, 1120S and C corp returns and decide sign-off status.
• Define edge-case rules, AI error checks and QA steps with engineering.
• Log engine errors with reproducible examples and assist product feedback.
• Mentor a lean team of reviewers and build a scalable playbook.
