Job summary

Atomic HR is seeking a senior CPA to sign off on AI-prepared returns and shape the review rules. You’ll work directly with the founder and engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance across 1040, 1065, 1120S and C corp returns, including K-1s and multi-state allocations. You’ll define edge-case checks, QA steps and contribute to product improvements.

The role offers remote or hybrid work, partnering with a small reviewer team and equity participation for founding contributors.

Qualifications

Active US CPA license and clean disciplinary record.
5+ years preparing and reviewing complex individual and small-business returns (1040, K-1s, S corp, partnerships, C corp).
Final sign-off experience with own license, or reviewed last with no partner behind you.

Responsibilities

Review AI-prepared returns (1040/1065/1120S/C corp) for sign-off or rejection.
Define edge-case rules, AI error checks and QA steps with engineering.
Trace figures to original documents and engine data.
Log engine errors with form, line and cause for reproducibility.
Develop and document review rules that can guide junior reviewers and engineers.
Mentor a lean team of fractional or full-time reviewers.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and Circular 230 and identify tax-planning opportunities.
