Job summary

Annual Reviews, a nonprofit publisher of 51 journals, seeks a dynamic President to guide strategy, governance, and operational excellence across scholarly communications. You will work with the Board, editors, and staff to advance editorial integrity, open access models, and responsible stewardship of resources.

Qualifications

• 10+ years senior leadership experience, preferably in scholarly publishing or related areas.
• Experience developing organizational strategy and aligning resources with priorities.
• Familiarity with the scientific publishing industry and open access models.
• Experience leading organizational growth and change.
• Experience working with governing boards and board committees.
• Experience with open access models and funding approaches.
• Revenue diversification experience and financial acumen (P&L, budgeting, partnerships).
• BA/BS degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the top executive and principal leader of Annual Reviews.
• Oversee performance and financial stewardship with the CFO to ensure sustainability.
• Provide leadership for editorial integrity and impact of journals and publications.
• Lead discussions on editorial policies with boards and staff.
• Represent AR in global scholarly and publishing communities.
• Research and recommend new business initiatives to the Board.
• Manage a team of 10 department directors and an executive assistant.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and governance requirements.
