Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director of Architecture to lead architecture strategy for Portal, Chat, Voice, and Data platforms, including the responsible adoption of AI/ML capabilities. Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience architecting scalable platforms.
• 7+ years of experience defining architecture strategy and delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
• 5+ years of experience in healthcare technology ecosystems or familiarity with healthcare data and regulatory constraints.
• 5+ years of experience driving architectural vision and strategy across cross-functional teams.
• 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and data integration tools.
• 3+ years of experience with driving data and reporting solutions.
• 2+ years of experience designing agentic workflows or autonomous systems.
• 2+ years of experience with architecting scalable portals, APIs, Chat and/bots in cloud hosting.
• 1+ year of experience with AI/ML concepts including responsible AI principles, multi-agent solutions, generative AI and MCP.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture strategy for Portal, Chat, Voice, and Data platforms, including AI/ML adoption and roadmaps.
• Define target-state architecture to align with business outcomes.
• Promote reuse of enterprise capabilities, APIs, data, and AI services to accelerate delivery.
• Apply an AI-aware mindset to design choices and tradeoffs.
• Use AI tools to speed up API reviews, dependency analysis, and documentation.
• Guide design reviews and foster a culture of simplification and responsible innovation.
• Ensure production readiness with observability, security, resiliency, and DR practices.
