Job summary

Prolific is seeking Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join our Expert Network to help train and evaluate AI models using real-world chemical expertise. If selected, you’ll complete a short test and, if successful, join Prolific as a participant to get paid for AI tasks.

Researchers using our platform pay up to $60 per hour. Expect one hour blocks of work with potential for shorter tasks and the flexibility to work from home.

Qualifications

• Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related Physical Science field.
• Professional Experience: laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Technical Mastery: deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Safety & Compliance: understanding of chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS standards, EPA/REACH/FDA requirements.
• Analytical Precision: identify errors in IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamics.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses for factual accuracy and safety.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate reactions, balance equations, and viable synthetic routes.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review lab protocols, safety summaries, spectra (NMR/IR/Mass Spec).
• Annotate Molecular Data: correct SMILES, 2D/3D representations, and property predictions.
• Safety Monitoring: prevent AI outputs that instruct synthesis of hazardous substances.
