Job summary

Prolific is seeking Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join our Expert Network for AI training and evaluation. You’ll assess AI-generated chemistry responses, balance equations, and validate reactions, with tasks designed around real-world chemistry expertise.

If successful, you may join Prolific as a paid participant working from home, with tests and flexible hours. Pay is up to $60 per hour, and tasks require approximately one hour of uninterrupted work, though many are shorter.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Physical Science field.
• Experience in laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Understanding of chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS standards, and regulatory requirements (EPA, REACH, FDA).
• Ability to identify errors in IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamic calculations.
• Clear, technically accurate scientific communication.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses to advanced chemistry queries for factual accuracy, structural integrity, and logical reasoning.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate AI-generated chemical reactions, balancing equations, and ensuring proposed synthetic routes are viable and safe.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review model-generated lab protocols, safety summaries, and spectral interpretations (NMR, IR, Mass Spec) for accuracy.
• Annotate Molecular Data: identify and correct errors in SMILES strings, 2D/3D molecular representations, and property predictions.
• Safety Monitoring: ensure AI outputs do not provide instructions for the synthesis of hazardous, illicit, or restricted substances.
