Job summary

Prolific is seeking Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join our Expert Network to help train and evaluate AI models using real-world chemical expertise. If successful, you’ll be invited to join Prolific as a participant and get paid for AI tasks.

You'll complete a brief test and, if passed, gain ongoing paid opportunities with flexible hours and remote work from home. Researchers pay up to $60 per hour for quality contributions.

Qualifications

• Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Physical Science field.
• Experience in laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS, and regulatory requirements (EPA, REACH, FDA).
• Ability to identify errors in IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamics.
• Ability to explain complex reactions or molecular interactions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses for factual accuracy, structural integrity, and reasoning.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate reactions, balancing equations, and viable, safe synthetic routes.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review lab protocols, safety summaries, and spectral interpretations (NMR, IR, Mass Spec).
• Annotate Molecular Data: identify and correct errors in SMILES, 2D/3D representations, and property predictions.
• Safety Monitoring: ensure outputs do not advise synthesis of hazardous or illicit substances.
