Job summary

Prolific seeks Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join its Expert Network for training and evaluating AI models using real-world chemical expertise. You’ll complete a short test to assess fit and, if successful, join Prolific as a participant paid to train and evaluate AI models.

Researchers pay up to $60 per hour. Tasks require around an hour of uninterrupted work, with many shorter opportunities and the option to work from home.

Qualifications

• Education: a BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Physical Science field.
• Professional Experience: experience in laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Technical Mastery: deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Safety & Compliance: understanding of chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS standards, and regulatory requirements (EPA, REACH, FDA).
• Analytical Precision: ability to identify errors in complex IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamic calculations.
• Communication: ability to explain intricate reaction pathways or molecular interactions in clear, technically accurate language.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses for factual accuracy and reasoning.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate reactions, balancing equations, and viable synthetic routes.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review lab protocols, safety summaries, and spectral interpretations for accuracy.
• Annotate Molecular Data: identify and correct errors in SMILES strings and molecular representations.
• Safety Monitoring: ensure AI outputs do not provide instructions for hazardous substances.
