Job summary

First American is hiring remote Appraisers nationwide to support its valuation services. You will assess properties, analyze data, and develop value estimates in line with guidelines. Responsibilities include documenting site findings, drawing diagrams, and presenting final evaluations to clients.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 0–1 year of mortgage/appraisal exposure, and strong analytical and writing skills. Licensure as an appraiser is required by state regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 0-1 years of related experience with a mortgage and/or appraisal company.
• Preferred experience in REO appraisals.
• HUD/FHA experience.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Ability to work within varying client-driven deadlines.
• Exceptional analytical and narrative writing skills; summarize results.
• Detail oriented and self-motivated.
• Must work in a fast paced, accurate environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; adapt to diverse audiences.
• Strong organization with ability to multi-task and follow up.
• Active Appraiser license or certification as required by state's regulatory agency.

Responsibilities

• Conducts unbiased assessment of market areas, analyzes data, and develops property value estimates following guidelines.
• Documents on-site assessments with photographs, measurements, and demographic information.
• Draws land diagrams and other visual documentation.
• Considers factors influencing value including land, neighborhoods, trends, and features.
• Generates fee quotes.
• Presents final evaluations and property value estimates to clients.
• Partners with Lead Appraiser to resolve requests and improve processes.
• Participates in monthly Appraiser meetings.
• Meets department turn time expectations and escalates when deadlines cannot be met.
