Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for a 100% remote role to evaluate and authorize commercial prior authorization requests in a call-center environment. You will determine medication appropriateness, document outcomes, and escalate complex cases for pharmacist review.

Requirements include a valid pharmacy technician license with a national certification (PTCB or NHA), 1+ years in retail or call center pharmacy, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacy technician with national certification (PTCB or NHA) required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years in retail or call center pharmacy environment (3+ years ideal).
• Strong health literacy and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable using multiple computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize commercial prior authorization requests from prescribers by phone.
• Determine medication appropriateness and communicate decisions to physicians and staff.
• Document prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system.
• Explain prior authorization criteria, coverage, and formulary alternatives.
• Escalate complex cases to Pharmacist for review or denial.
• Document inquiries and provide verbal/written results.
• Review medication coverage in the fax queue and monitor queues.
