Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for a 100% remote contract position based out of Houston, Texas. You will evaluate and authorize commercial prior authorization requests from prescribers, using clinical criteria in a call center environment.

Responsibilities include documenting outcomes, communicating coverage and formulary alternatives, and escalating complex cases to a pharmacist. Requires PTCB or NHA certification and 1+ years of retail/call center experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• State registration/license.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA) required.
• 1+ years of experience in retail or call center environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize approval of pharmacy requests based on clinical criteria, documenting prior authorization outcomes and communicating pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives.
• Determine the appropriateness of medications and communicate decisions to physicians, office staff, medical management, and pharmacists.
• Escalate requests requiring extensive clinical review to a pharmacist following clear guidelines.
