Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to evaluate and authorize prior authorization requests in a remote call center environment. You will apply clinical criteria, document outcomes and communicate coverage and formulary alternatives.

Responsibilities include determining medication appropriateness, communicating decisions to prescribers and staff, and escalating complex cases to a pharmacist per guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• State registration/license.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required (PTCB or NHA).
• 1+ years of experience in retail or call center pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize approval of pharmacy requests based on clinical criteria, documenting prior authorization outcomes and communicating pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives.
• Determine the appropriateness of medications and communicate decisions to physicians, office staff, medical management, and pharmacists.
• Escalate requests requiring extensive clinical review to a pharmacist following clear guidelines.
