Job summary

Greater Regional Health seeks a Certified Coder to provide hospital coding for inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT. Flexibility exists with remote work post‑probation, but regular in-person meetings are required.

The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to guidelines, and timely billing; two years of coding experience and related certifications are preferred. Epic experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• ICD-10 training including anatomy and physiology preferred.
• At least two years coding experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medications recommended.
• Certifications accepted include CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, RHIT or RHIA.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts discharge data from patient records for reimbursement and data collection.
• Assigns diagnostic/procedure codes to create APCs/DRG assignments.
• Review HIM coding guidelines and ensure coding accuracy.
• Maintain department productivity levels per director and standards.
• Query physicians when documentation is unclear for coding purposes.
• Utilize Epic for accessing patient accounts and verifying charges.
