Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Professional coder certification (AHIMA/AAPC) required, CPC-A/RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CPC etc., maintained annually.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience with cardiology focus.
• 2+ years of Windows PC experience, MS Excel, and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Abstract and code professional fee services for non-invasive cardiology procedures (Stress testing, echocardiography, TTE, TEE).
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and modifiers per guidelines and payer requirements.
• Ensure documentation supports the procedures billed.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and obtain clarifications from providers.
• Work coding edits, claim denials, and audit findings to support accurate reimbursement.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards.
• Stay current with coding regulations, payer updates, and NCCI edits.
