Ascension is seeking a Remote Medical Coder with expertise in coding and compliance. This role requires CCS/CPC credentials or other AHIMA/AAPC certifications, and a Cardiology specialization.

You will abstract medical data, assign CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM codes, and ensure accurate DRG/APC assignments while adhering to AHIMA guidelines. The position emphasizes collaboration with physicians, adherence to reimbursement rules, and maintaining high productivity.

Qualifications

• CCS credential (AHIMA) required before hire date
• CPC credential (AAPC) required before hire date
• Cardiac coding credential (AAPC) required before hire date
• RHIA credential (AHIMA) required before hire date
• RHIT credential (AHIMA) required before hire date

Responsibilities

• Abstract medical information and assign ICD, CPT, HCPCS codes
• Query physicians to clarify documentation and educate staff
• Conduct internal coding audits adhering to AHIMA guidelines
